Samsung is now gearing up to introduce its Galaxy S26 series of smartphones early next year, after it is finally done with the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 foldable smartphones, earlier this month. Previous reports claimed that the cameras in the Galaxy S26 lineup are slated to receive a few upgrades. However, recent reports suggest that we may not see a Galaxy S Plus model for the first time in nearly a decade in the lineup, and it will be replaced by the ‘Edge’ smartphone, with major camera improvements.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge: Expected camera details
Last week, a Sammy Police report claimed only three models will be released for next year’s Samsung Galaxy S26 series lineup. The report revealed some screenshots of the GSMA database, which is where most smartphones get listed well in advance, where only the standard Samsung Galaxy S26, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra were listed.
Now, a report from German outlet Winfuture suggests that these Samsung Galaxy S26 series phones will have codenames,’ NPA1,’ NPA2, and ‘NPA3,’ where NPA stands for Next Paradigm. Interestingly, the Galaxy S25 series smartphones have the codenames PA1, PA2, and PA3, where PA stands for Paradigm. Further, the report adds that the purported Galaxy S26 Edge could come with a 50MP ultra-wide shooter, which will be a huge upgrade from the 12MP sensor in the Galaxy S25 Edge.
As for the flagship smartphone from the series, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, it is likely to come with a 50MP telephoto camera with up to 5x optical zoom support alongside the main 200MP camera, which is reported to be a 200MP Sony CMOS sensor.
