iPhone 17 Slim reportedly in development, could feature a new display technology: All the detailsApple is tipped to launch a new variant in its iPhone 17 series named the iPhone 17 Slim next year. It is expected to come with a new type of OLED display, which will help in maintaining a thin profile.
Now that Apple has finally launched the iPhone 16 series, the leaks and rumours of next year’s iPhone 17 series have already started appearing online. The Cupertino-based tech giant is tipped to introduce a new model next year, which could be called iPhone 17 Slim. It could be Apple's third attempt at creating a new-size smartphone after the iPhone Mini and iPhone Plus were introduced in the last few years.
A report from DigiTimes claims that the iPhone 17 Slim will come with a new TDDI OLED panel, which will help Apple to offer a thin profile. Many industry sources have also confirmed that Apple has collaborated with a Taiwanese company called Novatek to develop this new type of OLED display.
The Digitimes report further mentions that Novatek is expected to begin production of these TDDI OLED panels in the second quarter of 2025 and Apple might be one of Novatek's first customers for this technology. Apple could also decide the size of the Dynamic Island notch with the iPhone 17 series.
Earlier in May this year, The Information reported that the iPhone 17 Slim is speculated to replace the current iPhone Plus series and potentially command a higher price point than even the Pro Max series. Therefore, it could have a price tag of $1,199 or above.
