No license without driving test: Govt issues clarification on certificates issued by accredited driver training centres

Reacting to media reports, the ministry clarified that there would be no changes to the existing provisions from June 1.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on June 1 issued a clarification regarding certificates issued by accredited driver training centres (ADTC) and driving schools.

Reacting to media reports, the ministry clarified that there would be no changes to the existing provisions from June 1.

The Road Transport Ministry said in a release, “With regard to the news being circulated in some sections of the media it is clarified that the Rules 31B to 31J, which prescribed provisions around Accredited Driver Training Centres (ADTC), were inserted in Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR), 1989 vide GSR 394(E) dated 07.06.2021, are applicable with effect from 01.07.2021 and no change is envisaged from 01.06.2024.”

Meaning, the said rules have been in effect since July 1, 2021, and no changes have been introduced wef June 1, 2024.
