Despite that India does have some crucial matches, which starts with badminton. PV Sindhu will be in the spotlight in the women's singles event, but the focus should be on Lakshya Sen, who meets his nemesis Jonatan Christie in the final group encounter. A win is very crucial for Lakshya as only the toppers from each group will enter the quarterfinals.
Apart from him, Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain will kick-off her campaign against Norway's Sunniva Hofstad in the women's 75kg round of 16 bout.
Sreeja Akula too will hope to join Manika Batra in the pre-quarterfinals as she takes on Singapore's Jian Zeng in the women's singles round of 32 table tennis event.
