India batter Harleen Deol left her teammates and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in splits with an impromptu question about the latter's skincare regimen. The exchange was recorded during the official meeting between the Prime Minister and the World Cup-winning Indian women's cricket team at his residence on Wednesday evening.
Thanks to Harleen's query as what had begun as a formal meeting about India's historic World Cup victory soon took a hilarious turn.
“Sir, your skin is always glowing. Can you please tell me what is your skincare routine?” Harleen asked leaving everyone in the room in splits.
The Prime Minister was among those who laughed at her surprising inquiry. "I do not think about all that," Modi retorted, still laughing.
Sneh Rana quickly added, “Sir, it’s the love of the millions of this country!” — prompting even more laughter.
Joining in on the fun, head coach Amol Muzumdar jokingly informed the Prime Minister, “As you can see sir, these are the personalities I have to deal with. Which has now made my hair go white.”
The victory marks a new turning point in Indian cricket as the women's team won their first-ever World Cup after finishing runners-up twice in 2005 and 2017 previously.
Senior players Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana celebrated the win with special tattoos, showcasing the significance of the achievement. On Wednesday, Harmanpreet Kaur took to Instagram and shared a picture of the tattoo, which features the World Cup Trophy.
Forever etched in my skin and my heart, waited for you since Day 1, and now I will see you every morning and be grateful," Harmanpreet wrote.
