Pakistan cricket legend Shahid Afridi has called on Mohsin Naqvi to resign as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), emphasizing the need for dedicated leadership following the recent Asia Cup setback. Afridi, a prominent voice in Pakistani cricket, argued that managing the responsibilities of a top cricket administrator while simultaneously serving as the country’s Interior Minister is unrealistic, particularly during a time of crisis.

This isn’t Afridi’s first critique of Naqvi’s dual roles. After the Champions Trophy, he had already suggested that Naqvi should treat the PCB chairman’s role as a full-time commitment. In light of the Asia Cup disappointment, Afridi has reiterated his concerns, highlighting Naqvi’s inability to address urgent issues in Pakistan cricket. The former all-rounder, who lifted the T20 World Cup for Pakistan, further criticized Naqvi for his limited knowledge of the game and reliance on ineffective advisers.

"My request or advice to Naqvi Saheb is that these are two very important posts, and they are big jobs that need time," Afridi told Telecom Asia Sport.

Alongside his responsibilities as PCB chairman and Interior Minister, Naqvi also holds the position of president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
