Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal began the chase for the Rajasthan Royals but the centurion from the previous match got out for a duck as he tried to slog Deepak Chahar down the ground. The 14-year-old could only find Will Jacks, who was inside the circle at mid-on.
In the second over bowled by Trent Boult, Yashasvi Jaiswal went for the counter-attack and got two sixes from the first three deliveries. However, the left-arm quick bounced back with a sensational length-ball which castled the RR opener's stumps.
After the double blow, Nitish Rana and Riyan Parag formed up a small partnership which looked like the passage for RR to get back in this contest. However, Boult struck again on the last delivery of the fourth over as Rana was caught near the boundary rope. A rough start and turned into a nightmare for the Royals as half of their side were back in the pavilion after that Jasprit Bumrah over. The pace sensation first trapped with a short one Parag and Shimron Hetmyer for a golden duck. Mumbai Indians firing on all cylinders.
Making things more worse for RR, impact sub Shubham Dubey also departed for 15 off 9 which left the Royals reeling at 64 for 6.
All the big guns of Mumbai Indians came to the party in Jaipur as they posted 217 runs against the Rajasthan Royals. First Rohit Sharma (53 off 36) and Ryan Rickelton (61 off 38) fired on all cylinders. Followed by Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav taking the RR bowlers to the cleaners at their home.
After Riyan Parag won the toss and elected to bowl first, Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton opened the batting for the Mumbai Indians. Jofra Archer and Fazalhaq Farooqi bowled brilliantly with the new ball in the first two overs. Fazalhaq came in to bowl and almost trapped Rohit LBW. The 38-year-old was saved by DRS as he took the review and it showed that the ball had pitched outside leg. After a slow start, Rohit and Ryan launched attack on the RR bowlers and got 58 runs from the first six overs.
It is all about the MI openers after the first two overs from RR. Mumbai were off to a solid start. Rickelton completed his fifty in just 29 deliveries and moments later Rohit Sharma also completed his half-century with a four off Theekshana.
The Sri Lanka spinner finally broke the deadlock for RR but it was after 11.5 overs and 116 runs. Moments after Rickelton's wicket, Rohit Sharma went for the big one against Riyan Parag but got caught near the boundary rope by Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Captain Hardik Pandya has promoted himself up the order and move worked wonderfully as he partnered up with Suryakumar Yadav brilliantly. After 16 overs, MI were 161 for the loss of two wickets and in the end they helped their side post a challenging total.
