PBKS vs LSG Highlights, IPL 2025: Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh began the chase for Lucknow Super Kings after Punjab Kings posted 236 runs on the board. Arshdeep Singh was on fire as he sent back both LSG openers back in the hut cheaply. LSG were reeling at 16 for 2 after 3 overs with Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant in the middle of the chase. After trapping both openers, Arshdeep Singh got the dangerous Nicholas Pooran, he reviewed the LBW decision but it was clear out. After that, Ayush Badoni and captain Pant were in the middle. Post the powerplay, Pant went for a massive one against Azmatullah Omarzai but could only find the fielder. LSG captain's poor run continued.
It went from bad to worse for the Super Giants when David Miller also got trapped after just scoring 11 runs. He was dismissed by Omarzai as well.
After LSG went five down, Abdul Samad and Ayush Badoni decided to go after the PBKS bowlers as they attacked Vijaykumar Vyshak and Yuzvendra Chahal. After 15 overs, Badoni and Samad's partnership was of 70 runs in just 31 deliveries. They truly showed their top-order how to bat at the HPCA stadium in Dharamsala. However, in the end, the total was too big for LSG.
Earlier, PBKS did it again, they crossed the 200-run mark with 16 sixes and 19 fours. This was a massive total - Prabhsimran (91 off 48), Josh Inglis (30 off 14), Iyer (45 off 25), Wadhera (16 off 9), Shashank (33 off 15*) and Stoinins (15 off 5*) - helped their team.
The match began with twists and turns as LSG struck gold with the wicket of Priyansh Arya in the first over. PBKS bounced back as their move to send Josh Inglis up the order worked wonders. He smashed 30 off just 14 deliveries before getting dismissed against Akash Maharaj Singh. From then, Shreyas Iyer joined Prabhsimran Singh who went for a big one in the last over of the powerplay against Avesh Khan, got it up in the sky after miscuing it badly but Nicholas Pooran dropped the PBKS opener. He replied with a four on the last delivery of the powerplay to put some salt on the LSG wounds.
After the powerplay, Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer continued the onslaught for Punjab Kings toying with the LSG bowlers all over the park with sixes and fours. Singh completed his fifty in just 30 deliveries whereas Iyer kept the momentum going from the other end as well for the Punjab Kings.
It took something special from LSG to dismiss the PBKS skipper as Digvesh Rathi broke the dangerous partnership between Iyer and Singh. First, Iyer smashed Rathi for a six over long-on but the spinner bounced back on the next delivery with the wicket of the right-handed batter. After Iyer's wicket, Nehal Wadhera also contributed with a small cameo of 16 off 9 balls. Prince Yadav took his wicket a sensational yorker. After that, Shashank Singh joined Prabhsimran and he was sent to continue the thrashing. He did it brilliantly as LSG bowlers were clueless infront of the hosts batters until the end.
Earlier, Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya opened the batting for Punjab Kings. Akash Singh attacked the stumps with the new ball for LSG striked in the very first over trapping Arya. The left-hander went for a big cover drive, miscued it badly and got caught at 3rd man by Mayank Yadav who did not have to move much to complete that catch. It looked like LSG were off to a fine start until Josh Inglis decided to take on the pace attack from ball one. First he got a four off Singh in the last delivery of the first over and then smashed Mayank Yadav for 3 sixes in the second to light the HPCA stadium in Dharamsala. Lucknow captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to bowl first against Punjab. Punjab Kings defeated the Lucknow Super Giants by 37 runs.
