PBKS vs DC, IPL Match Highlights: Delhi Capitals (DC) ended their IPL 2025 campaign with a six-wicket win against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday. The tie was a replay of the match between the two sides at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, which was abandoned midway due to cross border tension between India and Pakistan.
However, unlike the previous meeting, Punjab, who have already qualified for the playoffs, got off to a slow start after being asked to bat first. While Delhi did a fair job to keep Punjab in check with wickets at regular intervals, they, however, failed to contain Shreyas Iyer and Marcus Stoinis rubbed further salt to their wounds. Iyer smashed yet another half-century and Stoinis returned unbeaten on 44 off just 16 balls, featuring three 4s and four 6s. Their combined effort apart from vital contribution from others helped Punjab pile a challenging 206/8 on the board. This was the seventh time Punjab breached the 200-run mark this season, which is the joint most by any franchise in the history of the competition. It is also noteworthy that all 200-plus totals for Punjab have come batting first.
KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis then gave Delhi a blistering start in the 207 chase, which the team wrapped up with three balls to spare. The pair added 55 for the opening wicket before Marco Jansen crashed the party and removed Rahul for 35(21). Karun Nair, who made a comeback to the Indian Test squad, joined the chase and opened his account with a boundary. But shortly after Delhi lost Du Plessis for 23(15) against Harpreet Brar.
Afghanistan's Sediqullah Atal got a reprieve but couldn't do much despite the lifeline. He was dismissed for 22(16) but Nair kept DC remain in hunt. He and Sameer Rizvi combined to add 62 runs for the fourth wicket before Brar gave Punjab the much-needed breakthrough. The spinner dismissed Nair for 44(27) to register his second scalp of the match.
But Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs ensured there were no further hiccups as the duo drove the team home with the former fittingly finishing the show with a stylish six. Rizvi returned unbeaten on 58 off 25 balls, an innings laced with three 4s and five 6s. Stubbs played the second fiddle and added 18* off 14.
Meanwhile, the Punjab innings began with Priyansh Arya getting out cheaply against Mustafizur Rahman, who eventually finished with three scalps. Josh Inglis and Prabhsimran Singh then ran the show before the Aussie got stumped for 32(12) against Vipraj Nigam. The spinner then got rid of Prabhsimran in his next over for 28(18).
Iyer and Nehal Wadhera then moved the innings forward and added 41 for the fourth wicket. Mukesh Kumar broke the stand, dismissing the latter for run-a-ball 16. Iyer led from the front as wickets kept tumbling at the other end. Shashank Singh was packed for 11(10), following which Kuldeep Yadav struck twice in same over, which included the prized wicket of Iyer for 53(34). However, a late punch by Stoinis disrupted Delhi's momentum entirely.
Meanwhile, Du Plessis once again led Delhi as Axar Patel continued to remain on the sideline after missing the must-win encounter against Mumbai Indians earlier this week.
