The handsome victory saw Mumbai jump to second position on the points table, while Lucknow remained sixth in the standings.
Earlier, half-centuries by Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav, and a late blitz by Naman Dhir and Corbin Bosch helped Mumbai's case with the bat. Rickelton led the show and scored 58(32) before falling to Digvesh Rathi. Suryakumar then shouldered the responsibility in the middle overs as wickets kept tumbling at the other end. He was eventually dismissed for 28-ball 54 by Avesh Khan. Bosch and Naman introduced themselves late in the party and pushed Mumbai beyond the 200-run mark. Bosch chipped in with a 10-ball 20, while Naman returned unbeaten on 25 off 11 balls.
Meanwhile, after consecutive half-centuries in the last two outings, Rohit Sharma showed signs of yet another splendid show. He started off by hitting Mayank Yadav for back-to-back sixes but the pacer, who was playing his first match of the season, got him out for 12(5). Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya couldn't do much and fell for single-digit scores.
Lucknow in response were jolted early by Bumrah, who packed in-form Aiden Markram for 9(11). Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh then negated the early threat and took Lucknow to 60/1 at the end of powerplay. However, Will Jacks made double injections in the next over, removing Pooran (27 off 15) and Rishabh Pant (4 off 2).
Ayush Badoni and Marsh then added 46 in 29 balls for the fourth wicket before Boult got rid of Marsh for 34(24). He then removed Badoni for 35(22), following which Bumrah struck thrice in the 16th over, which was enough to decide the fate of the match.
