As per Hindu religious texts, there are a total of 51 Shakti Peeths (shrines dedicated to various forms of Adi Shakti) located in India and its neighbouring areas. Shakti Peeths are highly sacred worship places in Hindu religion that represents the ultimate power of women. Out of these Shakti Peeths, three are considered most powerful as they symbolize the three most important aspects of the Goddess - Creation (Kamarupa Devi), Nourishment (Sarvamangala Devi/Mangalagauri), and Annihilation (Mahakali Devi). Kamakhya Temple (Guwahati, Assam) Located on the Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, Assam, the Kamakhya Temple stands represents the feminine power and energy of Goddess Shakti. This temple is dedicated to Kamarupa Devi, an aspect of the Goddess Shakti that symbolizes creation. It is one of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Peeths and is considered one of the most powerful Shakti Peeths. According to Hindu mythology, this is the site where Goddess Sati's yoni (womb) fell during Lord Shiva's dance of destruction. The Kamakhya Temple is renowned for its annual Ambubachi Mela, attracting devotees from all corners of the globe. This festival celebrates the menstruation of the Goddess, symbolizing the fertility of the Earth. The temple's sanctum does not have any idol, instead, it has a rock fissure in the shape of a yoni, worshiped by devotees. The Kamakhya Shakti Peeth is also very popular for Tantra Vidya.

Mangalagauri Temple (Gaya, Bihar) Located in the heart of Bihar, the Shakti Peeth in Gaya district is dedicated to Goddess Sarvamangala Devi, also known as Mangalagauri. This temple celebrates the nourishing aspect of Goddess Shakti, representing the nurturing nature of the divine feminine. It is said that the breast of Goddess Sati fell here. The Gaya Shakti Peeth is particularly revered for its significance in the rites of Pind Daan, a ritual performed for the salvation of ancestors. Devotees believe that prayers offered at this sacred site ensure eternal peace and salvation for departed souls.

Mahakali Temple (Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh) The Mahakali Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, is considered as one of the most powerful Shakti Peeths, dedicated to Mahakali Devi, representing the Goddess's annihilating force. This temple marks the place where Sati's upper lip is believed to have fallen. The deity, Mahakali, is worshiped here in her most fierce form, symbolizing the destruction of evil and the protection of righteousness. Ujjain, being one of the seven sacred cities (Sapta Puri) in Hinduism, hosts the Mahakali Temple as a pivotal center of spiritual energy and power.
