After her marriage to Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati adorned her forehead with a half-moon (Chandra). This crescent moon resembled a bell (Ghanta), which gave her the name Chandraghanta. In this form, she is revered as Mahagauri, embodying both compassion and readiness for battle to protect her devotees from negative forces.
