Mahesh Navami 2025, observed on June 4, marks a deeply spiritual festival in Hinduism, especially for the Maheshwari community. Celebrated every year on Shukla Paksha Navami of Jyeshtha month, Mahesh Navami holds immense religious value as it commemorates the divine grace of Lord Shiva (Mahesh) and Mata Parvati. The most prominent tale associated with this day is the Mahesh Navami Vrat Katha, which narrates the sacred origin of the Maheshwari lineage.

Mahesh Navami is not just a day of worship but also a celebration of rebirth, forgiveness, and divine transformation. It is believed that on this day, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati gave life back to cursed warriors and established the foundation of the Maheshwari Samaj.

Long ago, King Khadgalsena was troubled by childlessness. After intense penance, he was blessed with a son named Sujan Kunwar. As per astrological guidance, the king was warned never to allow his son to travel north until the age of 20. However, during a hunting trip in his teens, the young prince unknowingly ventured north. There, some sages were in deep meditation. Despite his guards’ pleas, the prince disturbed the area, leading to the breaking of a sage's penance. Enraged, the sage cursed Sujan Kunwar and his entire army—turning them into stone.
