The sacred Kalpvas, a significant spiritual tradition of the Maha Kumbh 2025, will conclude on Maghi Purnima, February 12. Devotees who have been observing Kalpvas since January 13, 2025, will mark the occasion by taking a holy dip in the Sangam, performing puja, and offering daan (charity) before returning home.
Kalpvas is an age-old Hindu practice where devotees reside near a sacred river for a specific period, engaging in self-discipline, spiritual reflection, and purification. Participating in Kalpvas during the Maha Kumbh is considered highly auspicious.

This year, over 10 lakh devotees have undertaken Kalpvas at the Triveni Sangam, according to a statement from the Uttar Pradesh government.
As per tradition, Kalpvas spans from Paush Purnima to Magh Purnima, involving fasting, self-restraint, and spiritual discourses (Satsang) on the riverbanks. On Maghi Purnima, Kalpvasis will complete their spiritual journey by taking a final dip in the Sangam and breaking their fast.
The Maha Kumbh, which follows a 12-year cycle, is the culmination of this sacred observance, drawing millions of devotees seeking spiritual merit and purification.
