Following her defeat to Donald Trump in the presidential election, Kamala Harris projected an image of optimism. However, a report alleges that she has shifted the blame for her loss onto her husband, Doug Emhoff.
In the days leading up to Donald Trump’s return to the White House, Kamala Harris’ staff gathered in her ceremonial office to witness her sign the desk, a custom upheld by her predecessors for decades. Her husband, Doug Emhoff, stood nearby, camera in hand, as she wielded her Sharpie marker.
“It is not my nature to go quietly into the night,” Harris said. “So don’t worry about that.”
“I’ll keep you posted," she said, on being asked what was next for her.
With President Donald Trump now in office, reports suggest Kamala Harris is directing her frustrations toward her husband, Doug Emhoff, whom she allegedly views as "dead weight."
"There's plenty of blame to go around as far as Kamala is concerned and Doug has his share," The Daily Mail quoted a source as saying.
“Doug did Kamala no favours during the election," the report quoted the source.
“Frankly, he looked like a hypocritical a** after the bombshells that he had got his child’s nanny pregnant while married to his first wife and assaulted his ex-girlfriend on the heels of his ‘I am woman’ crusade," the source added.
According to the report, many individuals close to the couple believe their relationship is strained, a sentiment allegedly evident during their attendance at former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral on January 9 and at Trump’s inauguration event.
Doug has reportedly signed up for a job with a Big Apple law firm, which may necessitate them to divide their time between New York and San Francisco, as per Daily Mail.
Rumours are circulating that Kamala Harris may pen a book, and there’s talk of her running for governor or perhaps seeking the presidency again. At 60, Harris still has youth on her side in a political world where the two most recent presidents were the oldest to ever be elected.
Those close to her speculate that she will forgo the race for California governor and set her sight on a presidential campaign in 2028.
“I was with her last week when she was signing her desk, she told me ‘You know me well enough to know that I’m not going to go away quietly’," the report quoted her former communications chief Ashley Etienne as saying.
Earlier, The Daily Mail had disclosed that Doug Emhoff had an affair with Najen Naylor, the nanny of his daughter, during his marriage to his first wife, Kerstin Mackin, a film producer.
Quoting a source, the report revealed that Doug Emhoff gave Najen Naylor $80,000 in exchange for her agreeing to a non-disclosure agreement, with the affair reportedly playing a role in his 2009 divorce.
