Former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss stormed off the stage after her speech was interrupted when a banner featuring a lettuce lead with eyes was unfurled above her.
Truss, who was on stage at a public event at Beccles Public Hall, Suffolk was speaking about Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump when the banner appeared from her behind.
Her speech was strategically interrupted by activism group 'Led By Donkeys'.
A video posted on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) showed the speech being stopped as Truss could not understand the situation. Then, a man is seen approaching her seeking her attention towards the banner. The moment Truss realises, she is seen taking off the microphone and walking off stage.
In their post, 'Led By Donkeys' said, "Liz Truss is on a pro-Trump speaking tour. So we dropped a strategically-positioned remote-controlled lettuce banner"
In 2022, during her 49-day tenure as prime minister, the Daily Star newspaper famously created a live webcam feed to see if her time in office would outlast a 60p iceberg lettuce. Liz Truss, who had held the South West Norfolk seat for the Conservatives since 2010, lost it in July's general election.
While promoting her new book in Beccles on Tuesday evening, Truss was interrupted when her attention was drawn to a banner behind her that read "I crashed the economy." Pausing her speech, she remarked, "That's not funny," before abruptly leaving the stage.
