In early December, Navalny had disappeared from a prison in the Vladimir region.

Russian opposition leader and Putin critic Alexei Navalny died in prison on February 16, according to agency reports. He died in the prison service of the Yamalo-Nenets region.

In a statement published on its website, the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District said that Navalny "felt unwell" after a walk on Friday, and "almost immediately lost consciousness", reported Reuters.
