Zelensky hails Germany's new air defence help for Ukraine, says support must increase | N18G

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised Germany’s air defense systems as a "historic" contribution to Ukraine's defense during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Kyiv on Monday. While expressing gratitude, Zelenskyy stressed the need for increased support. Scholz, who visited Ukraine for the first time in over two years, reiterated Germany's commitment to backing Kyiv in the war, positioning Germany as Ukraine's second-largest supporter after the U.S. However, Scholz refused two key Ukrainian requests: supplying Taurus long-range missiles and fast-tracking Ukraine’s NATO membership, maintaining Germany’s stance on these issues.
