Grammy-winning band Coldplay is set to perform in India in January 2025 as part of their Music of the Spheres world tour. However, the much-anticipated concert has left many fans disappointed, as tickets quickly sold out despite an additional show being added to accommodate overwhelming demand. Many eager fans were unable to secure tickets, with several being snapped up by resellers and scalpers.
Tickets have since appeared on resale platforms and social media, with resellers offering them at significantly inflated prices. On platforms such as Viagogo, prices for tickets have soared as high as Rs 3.65 lakh, putting them out of reach for many Coldplay enthusiasts. This has sparked frustration among fans, as a substantial number of tickets appear to have been bought for resale rather than by genuine concert-goers.
For those unable to attend the Mumbai concert, an alternative has emerged. As part of their global tour, Coldplay will also be performing in Abu Dhabi on January 11, 2025 at Zayed Sports City Stadium. This offers Indian fans a chance to see the band live without paying exorbitant prices to resellers.
Ticket prices for the Abu Dhabi show offer a range of options, starting from AED 195 (Rs 4,440 approximately). Pre-sale tickets were available to those who had registered in advance, and the general sale is set to commence on September 27 at 1:30 PM IST. For those seeking early access, a pre-sale via Live Nation began on September 26.
In terms of logistics, travelling to Abu Dhabi from India may offer a more viable option for Coldplay fans than paying inflated prices on the resale market. Round-trip flight tickets from Delhi to Abu Dhabi in January 2025 are estimated to cost around Rs 22,000 for economy class, based on current flight booking platforms.
Meanwhile, Indian citizens holding a valid US visa, UK visa, or EU residence permit are eligible for a visa on arrival in Abu Dhabi. This visa, valid for 14 days, is available at a cost of Rs 2,276 approximately. For travellers without these documents, an Express UAE visa option is available, priced at Rs 820, with a validity of 48 hours.
Accommodation costs vary, depending on the type of hotel chosen. A three-star hotel within a 10 km radius of Zayed Sports City Stadium is priced between Rs 15,000-17,000 per night for two adults, allowing fans the flexibility to choose between budget and premium stays, Business Insider reported.
In addition to flight and accommodation costs, other expenses to consider include transportation, food, and sightseeing, alongside miscellaneous spending. Setting aside a specific budget could help fans.
