A Chennai-based builder has received India’s first Rolls-Royce Spectre EV. Baashyaam Yuvaraj of Baashyaam Constructions is the proud owner of a brand new, all-electric car from the British luxury automobile manufacturer, according to Cartoq report.
The Rolls-Royce Spectre is the first electric vehicle from the century-old carmaker. Pegged as the spiritual successor to the Phantom Coupe, it costs about Rs 9 crore, ex-showroom. Its on-road price is closer to Rs 10.5 crore.
Baashyaam Yuvaraj has received delivery of the Rolls-Royce Spectre even before it was formally launched in the domestic market. According to a report in AutoX, more units are expected to hit the domestic shores next year as the official launch is scheduled for 2024.
The exterior of India's first Spectre features a Wittering Blue finish with a Mandarin Coachline. The interior, meanwhile, is a two-tone setup where the Charles Blue is complemented by Mandarin accents on the seat piping and monogrammed headrests.
Pictures of Yuvaraj receiving the Rolls-Royce Spectre have been widely circulated on social media. The photos elicited a range of reactions – ranging from appreciative to amused to amazed at the price tag.
The fact that he wore chappals or slippers to receive the ultra-luxury car did not go unnoticed.
“We need roads worthy of Rolls-Royce cars to start with,” wrote Lok Sabha member Karti Chidambaram.
The Spectre, a very large ultra-luxury coupe, measures 5.45 metres in length and over 2 metres in width. It has two doors, four seats and the widest-ever grille fitted to a Rolls-Royce.
