An American national, Klor Anthony Louis—known online as Tony Klor—announced that he had been issued a five-year Indian business visa, drawing attention on social media for both his enthusiasm and his remarks comparing the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump.
According to the post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the visa was issued in September 2025 and will remain valid until September 2030. It allows him to stay in India for a period of up to 180 days per visit.
In his post, Tony expressed optimism about India’s openness towards foreign professionals in emerging technology sectors. He wrote: “It’s official! India is opening its doors to foreign blockchain & AI builders. I’ve just been granted a girthy 5-year Indian visa.”
He further contrasted the approaches of the two leaders, remarking: “Trump says foreigners go kick rocks. Modi says Welcome home, bhai.”
Tony’s post quickly gained traction, particularly among Indian and diaspora users who found the sentiment notable in the context of India’s growing efforts to attract international expertise in the blockchain and artificial intelligence fields.
The visa Tony received was a B-1 category, a short-term business visa generally issued for participation in conferences, meetings, or professional engagements. The B-1 visa does not grant the right to work in India but allows visits for business-related purposes.
Reactions to Tony’s post reflected a mix of humour, curiosity, and encouragement from Indian and overseas users alike.
One user commented: “Being honest, studying and working with brilliant Indians at top US universities, I truly believe India has some of the most intelligent minds in tech, AI, and engineering.
