Artificial Intelligence, 6G technology and digital innovation took centre stage on the second day of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, with policymakers, tech leaders and industry experts exploring how emerging technologies can shape India’s next phase of digital growth.
The day began with a leadership roundtable chaired by Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, who met CEOs of global telecom and tech firms on the theme ‘Charting India’s Telecom Vision’. Scindia said India had moved from being a services-driven economy to a “value-chain powerhouse”, adding that the government was acting as a “facilitator, not a regulator” in driving innovation.
“From the mobile revolution to chip manufacturing and advanced technologies, India’s growth has been phenomenal,” Scindia said. “Policy is providing the runway, and entrepreneurs are providing the flight.”
The day also saw the inauguration of the International AI Summit and an open API Hackathon, aimed at fostering collaboration between startups, developers and industry.
At a Women in Tech session, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta underlined the growing role of women in India’s digital transformation. “Women are no longer on the sidelines but leading from the front,” she said, adding that inclusion and innovation were key to the country’s technological rise.
Industry panels through the day discussed subjects including AI infrastructure, GenAI in enterprises, responsible AI governance, 6G use cases, and India’s manufacturing and design potential.
Rehan Nedaria, CTO of Cisco, said India’s AI journey should build on the success of Digital India initiatives like UPI. “We must democratize Artificial Intelligence and make its benefits accessible to every citizen, business, and institution,” he said.
Anku Jain of MediaTek India highlighted that real value from AI comes from addressing “everyday challenges” across enterprises, while Vinod Saharan of VVDN Technologies pointed to healthcare devices as a key area for innovation and growth.
Erik Ekudden, CTO of Ericsson, said upcoming 6G breakthroughs—such as battery-less sensors and advanced positioning—would make networks “intelligent platforms for innovation and sustainable growth.”
