Parliament security breach: INDIA seeks Amit Shah's statement, action against Pratap Simha

The four accused have been taken into custody and charged under the anti-terror Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), after hours of rigorous questioning.

A day after a security breach roiled the Parliament, the opposition INDIA bloc on December 14 demanded a detailed statement from Home Minister Amit Shah in both the Houses as well as an elaborate discussion on the incident.

Rajya Sabha member and senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh took to the microblogging site X on December 14, speaking on behalf of the INDIA bloc.

According to the note, shared by Ramesh on X, the opposition parties have also sought strict action against BJP MP Pratap Simha who reportedly provided visitor passes to the four accused who were taken into custody later and charged under the anti-terror Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

Ramesh also lashed out at the Narendra Modi government in his post. "The Modi government’s refusal to accept these perfectly legitimate and reasonable demands has led to the adjournment of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha today morning," the RS member wrote on X.
