The Election Commission of India (ECI) on January 29 announced the poll schedule for 56 seats Rajya Sabha seats in 15 states, which will go to polls on February 27.
According to the poll body, the notification will be issued on February 8, while the last date of filing nominations will be February 15.
The nominations will be scrutinised on February 16 and the last date of withdrawal of candidatures has been fixed as February 20.
The states where the Upper House polls will be held are: Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Rajasthan.
The term of the 56 incumbent Rajya Sabha MPs from these states is due to expire on April 2 and April 3.
Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of 10 MPs retiring followed by Bihar and Maharashtra with six members each and five members each from West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh.
