Amar Singh's candour is fresh as ever. In an interview to CNN-IBN, the former Samajwadi Party leader staunchly defended his move to join the Rashtriya Lok Dal with a line that drew on a hit Bollywood song, "Tum karo toh rasleela, main karun toh character dheela. (If you do it, it's justified, but if I do it, I am in the wrong.)"

"To err is human, to accept it is divine. I am sorry for my statement. Whatever I said (his remarks on Sonia's foreign origin) were as a spokesperson of the SP. I shouldn't have made those remarks," he said.
He also rubbished reports that Congress had denied him a ticket. "Jaya Prada and I met Sonia Gandhi together, but I never applied for a ticket in the Congress. May be I was expecting too much," he said. Jaya Prada and Amar Singh joined the RLD together today. Jaya Prada has stuck by Amar Singh through thick and thin and in the interview to CNN-IBN, she explained her commitment to the 58-year-old. "During my hour of crisis, he was there with me. He is my political mentor. I will never leave his side. I am not an opportunist," she said.
Amar Singh will be contesting the elections from Fatehpur while Jaya Prada will fight from Bijnor. "I have to try. It doesn't matter if I win or lose," Singh said.
