Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) can get close to 230 seats in the Lok Sabha Elections, but crossing the 272 mark looks improbable, says Rajdeep Sardesai of CNN-IBN. Sardesai’s opinion conforms with a recent opinion poll that BJP-led NDA will emerge as the biggest formation in 2014 elections.
The opinion poll showed the ruling Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) getting 98-108 seats while other parties garnering 223-233 seats.
Although Jayalalitha's AIADMK and Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress will play a crucial in the forthcoming elections, but he does not see regional parties forging any pre-poll alliance. If elections were held today, India will most definitely see formation of a stable government, Sardesai said. "There's 90 percent chance of NDA forming the government in 2014."
In the 14th Lok Sabha elections, BJP-led NDA had won 169 seats as opposed to 222 seats claimed by UPA. India is now preparing for the 16th Lok Sabha elections scheduled for May 2014.
