Former UP minister Babu Singh Kushwaha had allegedly demanded three per cent commission for allotting works to a company in a project, a special CBI court hearing a case in the multi-crore NRHM scam was informed today.

Girish Mallik told the court that a GM of CNDS, P K Jain, had allegedly asked for three per cent commission for Kushwaha, one per cent for himself and varying amounts for other people involved in the project. In August 2006, the company submitted a list of items and their rates after which Jain and a resident engineer prepared the project estimate. Initially, the project estimate was not approved, but it was later passed, he said. Meanwhile, accused Pradeep Shukla and Sunil Singhal had filed a discharge petition which was rejected by the court. The next hearing in the scam would be on May 30.
