Egyptian authorities said three British nationals were missing after a scuba diving boat they were cruising in caught fire off Egypt's Red Sea coastline on Sunday. In a short statement, Egypt's Red Sea Governate said 12 crew members and 12 British tourists were rescued when a medium-sized scuba diving boat, christened Hurricane,went up in flames off the southern Red Sea resort town of Marsa Alam. A search party was launched to find the remaining three British tourists whose identities were not revealed.

Blaze in plywood factory in west Delhi, 20 fire tenders rushed
A fire broke out in a plywood factory in west Delhi's Kirti Nagar on Sunday, officials said. The Delhi Fire Service officials said there was no report of injuries to anybody. According to the fire department, a call about the blaze was received around 6 pm and more than 20 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire.A makeshift temporary workplace made of tin sheds situated on the terrace of the factory caught fire and the raw materials stored there for making plywood were damaged in the incident, a senior fire officer said.

Delhi to see partly cloudy sky on Monday
The national capital on Sunday witnessed a partly cloudy sky as the maximum temperature settled a notch below the season's average at 38.5 degrees Celsius, an official said. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the city is likely to experience similar weather on Monday.There will be strong surface winds during the daytime and the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to settle around 40 and 26 degrees Celsius, an IMD official said. The day's minimum temperature settled at 25.2 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average temperature, the IMD said.
Govt to list SCI's non-core assets on bourses this month; invite bids for privatisation thereafter
The government is likely to invite financial bids for the privatisation of Shipping Corporation of India after listing its non-core asset business SCILAL on the stock exchanges this month, an official said. The government has hived off the non-core assets of SCI in a separate company -- Shipping Corporation of India Land And Assets Ltd (SCILAL) -- valued at Rs 2,392 crore as of March 31, 2022.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Sunday said the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) near Gujarat's Rajkot city is likely to be fully ready by October, as 65 per cent of the work has been completed so far. Mandaviya visited the AIIMS here during the day to take stock of the progress of the project. The out-patient department (OPD) of the hospital is already functional, while a 150-bed indoor hospital will be commissioned in August and 250-bed facility in September, he said.

Cyclone Biparjoy: Union home secretary reviews preparedness
Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on Sunday reviewed the preparedness of different wings of the central government and the Gujarat administration to deal with the impending Cyclone Biparjoy, officials said. The cyclone intensified into an "extremely severe cyclonic storm" and is likely to make landfall between Kutch district of Gujarat and Karachi in Pakistan on June 15. The Union home secretary chaired a meeting of the National Executive Committee to review the preparedness of the central ministries, agencies and the government of Gujarat to deal with the impending cyclone, a ministry spokesperson said.
IAF, Army carry out joint exercise in central sector
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has carried out a joint exercise with the Indian Army in the central sector with deployment of multiple combat assets to check the operational readiness of the two forces. The exercise follows the IAF's two strategic missions over the Indian Ocean region that involved Rafale and Su-30MKI jets. "The #IAF recently concluded a joint exercise with the Indian Army in the central sector. Multiple combat assets were employed to simulate realistic combat situations for all participants," the IAF tweeted on Sunday.

A total of 2,457 complaints against companies and market intermediaries have been disposed of through Sebi's SCORES platform in May. At the beginning of May, as many as 2,984 complaints were pending, and 2,626 fresh complaints were received, according to the data released by markets regulator Sebi on Saturday. The regulator also noted that as of May 2023, 28 complaints were pending for more than three months, the data showed.
Indian-origin ex-police officer in UK jailed for sexually assaulting colleague
An Indian-origin former police officer in the UK has been sentenced to 16 months in jail for sexually assaulting a colleague while on duty, the Metropolitan police said. Archit Sharma, a former police constable, was sentenced on Friday to 16 months imprisonment and added to the Sex Offenders Register for ten years, the Met said in a statement on Saturday. A restraining order was also issued against Sharma, preventing him from contacting the victim for ten years, and he was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of GBP 156.
Petrol, diesel prices go up in Punjab as state govt increases VAT on petrol, diesel
Petrol and diesel prices increased in Punjab by 92 paise and 88 paise per litre, respectively, following the upward revision in value added tax (VAT) on fuel by the state government, said fuel pump owners on Sunday. With the increase in VAT, retail prices of petrol and diesel (in Mohali) rose to Rs 98.95 a litre and Rs 89.25 per litre, respectively, they said.The new retail prices have come into effect from midnight of June 10 and 11. This is the second time that fuel prices were increased this year. In February, the AAP government had imposed a cess of 90 paise per litre on both petrol and diesel.
