Zainapora Assembly Election Results 2024: NC's Showkat Hussain Ganie wins

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference's Showkat Hussain Ganie won from the Zainapora Assembly constituency, defeating Aijaz Ahmad Mir (Independent) by a margin of 13,233 votes.

Counting of votes began at 8 am for the Zainapora assembly constituency that went to vote in the first phase of Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir on September 18.

The political landscape of Zainapora has been shaped by various parties over the years. In the 2024 polls, the constituency, which is part of Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency, saw a fierce electoral contest.

Three key candidates vying for the seat were Showkat Hussain Ganie, Ghulam Mohi Ud Din Wani, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate and party state secretary and Aijaz Ahmad Mir, a former PDP MLA, who chose to run as an independent candidate.

In the 2014 Assembly election, Ahmad Mir of the PDP won against Showkat Ganie by a margin of 1,805 votes.

Following the latest delimitation, the constituency was renamed from Wachi to Zainapora, with several areas merged to form this constituency.

The Zainapora constituency encompasses a diverse range of areas within its boundaries. It stretches across several tehsils, including Zainapora, as well as Chitragam, Barbugh Imamsahib, and Hermain.
