YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who has been arrested for allegedly passing on sensitive information to Pakistani intelligence operatives, had uploaded a video after the Pahalgam attack blaming tourists and the government for the incident.
In the video, which is being widely shared on social media, Jyoti suggested that the attack happened because we were not watchful enough.
The video was uploaded by Malhotra on her Instagram account, which is now suspended.
"Not just the government, this (attack) is the responsibility of every individual who visits these places ... and should be watchful. I know J&K has high security, there are Army and police personnel in every corner. If something like this has happened despite that then we are also at fault in some way. Perhaps we weren't watchful (enough) ... which is why this happened. We should be watchful and responsible," she said.
She further said that it is shocking how some people may have supported or aided the terrorists involved in the attack.
"If anyone is supporting these terrorists, then we are not Indian. If we are corrupt or wrong, it is shocking. It's wrong for any country ... If anyone supported those terrorists, then it is really wrong. And we are responsible for that. Our government is also responsible because there was a security lapse," she said.
Malhotra was allegedly in touch with Pakistani handlers during blackouts amid the war-like situation. She had visited Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir just three months before the deadly terror attack took place.
Malhotra runs a popular travel channel ‘Travel with JO’ on YouTube and hails from Hisar in Haryana. Her YouTube channel has over 3.77 lakh subscribers and her Instagram handle has more than 1.33 lakh followers
Her arrest is part of a broader crackdown under Operation Sindoor, during which 11 others have also been taken into custody for allegedly spying for Pakistan.
