Vibrant Gujarat Summit: How Modi's image and Gujarat economy evolved in 20 years

Ahead of the 2024 general elections, the investment climate in the country and particularly in PM Modi’s home state Gujarat is considered to be attractive as a financially secure economic hub.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit on January 10. Touted as the Davos of the East, the three-day summit will be continue till January 12 in Gandhinagar.

The summit, which is being hosted after a gap of five years, instead of the usual schedule of alternate years, is expected to attract investments worth billions of dollars. With an estimated population over 70 million people, Gujarat is reportedly the third-largest and one of the fastest growing state economies in the country. According to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the summit’s success has raised Gujarat’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) from Rs 1.42 lakh crore in 2003 to Rs 22.61 lakh crore in 2023.
