Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday reiterated his demand of Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, for Hindutva ideologue VD Savarkar. He also slammed the Congress and the BJP saying they should stop targeting Savarkar and Jawaharlal Nehru respectively.

The former chief minister on Tuesday met Fadnavis at the latter’s chamber in Vidhan Bhavan, Nagpur. Thackeray was accompanied by Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders Aaditya Thackeray, Anil Parab, and Varun Sardesai. The meeting took place during the ongoing winter session of the Maharashtra legislature.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) chief, who is a member of the state legislative council, arrived in Nagpur to attend the ongoing winter session of the state legislature. This was the first meeting between the two leaders after the formation of the new government.

He also slammed the Congress and the BJP saying they should stop targeting Savarkar and Jawaharlal Nehru respectively. “Regarding Veer Savarkar, I want to ask why he should not be given Bharat Ratna.
