A series of loud blasts were triggered after a truck carrying gas cylinders caught fire in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, early on Saturday morning.
In the fire, one nearby house and a warehouse sustained damages, however, no casualties or injuries have been reported so far.
According to Chief Fire Officer Rahul Kumar, fire brigade officials were on the spot, but as the cylinders continued to explode, the fire brigade personnel were not able to reach the truck. "The sound of the cylinder blast could be heard for several kilometres in the vicinity," Kumar said, ANI reported.
According to the police, over 100 cylinders might have been on the truck, according to a report by NDTV.
The reason of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Nearby residents came out of their houses after the blast sounds triggered panic in the area. "The nearby hotel has been damaged, the mirrors have broken. There is a lot of panic among the public," a resident said.
