A man in Uttar Pradesh took out a loan of ₹40,000 to hire two contract killers to gang-rape and murder his sister-in-law, India Today reported. While the accused has been arrested, the two hired killers remain at large. The incident occurred on January 21 near the Nanu canal in Meerut.

Police revealed that the victim was sexually assaulted by her brother-in-law and two accomplices before being strangled to death. The accused, identified as Ashish, was allegedly in a relationship with his wife’s younger sister. During interrogation, he claimed that she had been blackmailing him, prompting him to plot her murder.

Ashish sought help from a hospital worker, Shubham, who introduced him to another associate, Deepak. “Shubham told him that he had a contact who could help. They agreed to kill her for ₹30,000,” India Today quoted Aditya Bansal, Superintendent of Police for Muzaffarnagar Rural as saying. “Ashish took a ₹40,000 loan, paying ₹10,000 in advance and ₹20,000 after the murder,” he added.

On the day of the crime, Ashish, Shubham, and Deepak took the woman to the canal on a scooter, where they gang-raped her, strangled her with a scarf, and then burned her body using petrol.
