We all remember the last time PM unleashed a decision to the nation which was also initially applauded for his decisiveness, just like today and that was the disaster of demonetisation. Nation is still dealing with devastating consequences of that action.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee:
We cannot support this bill. We cannot vote for this bill. They should have spoken to all political parties and the Kashmiris. If you need to arrive at a permanent solution, then you have to talk to all stakeholders. I have no information about Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti. I appeal to the government that they should not feel isolated. They are not terrorists. They should be released in the interest of the democratic institutions.

MPs of All India Trinamool Congress walked out from the Lok Sabha in protest against revoking Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir.
Rahul Gandhi on bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir:
National integration isn’t furthered by unilaterally tearing apart J&K, imprisoning elected representatives and violating our Constitution. This nation is made by its people, not plots of land. This abuse of executive power has grave implications for our national security.
DMK MP Thalikkottai R Baalu in Lok Sabha:
You have the majority. You'll be passing the bill by the end of the day. We'll be voting against or walking out. You are making state government into a municipality.
BJPMP fromJammuPoonch, JugalKishoreSharma in Lok Sabha: Article 370 was a blot that Jawaharlal Nehru put on us.
Congress' Manish Tewari:
Indian constitution does not have only Article 370. It also has Article 371 A to I. They provide special rights to Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, Andhra, Sikkim etc. Today when you are scrapping Article 370, what message are you sending to these states? That you can revoke Article 371 tomorrow? By imposing President's rule in the north eastern states, and using the rights of their Assemblies in the Parliament, you can scrap Article 371 too? What kind of Constitutional Precedent are you setting in the country?
Meanwhile, Aditi Singh, a Congress MLA from Raebareli Sadar supported the revocation of Article 370."I am in absolute support of the decision taken. It will help in integrating Jammu and Kashmir into the mainstream. It's a historic decision. It should not be politicised. As an MLA, in my capacity, I welcome this decision," she said. (ANI)
Congress' Manish Tewari in Lok Sabha:
The Centre is bifurcating Jammu and Kashmir, but what about its Constitution? Will it bring another Bill to repeal the Constitution as well? I want to say that the Centre has not given a thorough thought before deciding upon this bifurcation.
Congress' Manish Tewari in Lok Sabha:
Section 3 of Constitution says consultation with assembly should be done before changing boundaries of any state. It was done before the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Congress' Manish Tewari in Lok Sabha:
It was the government of Jawaharlal Nehru who made Jammu and Kashmir part of India by sending force to take on Pakistan.
Home Minister Amit Shah in Lok Sabha:
Iwill answer all the question of Opposition, but I request them to maintain peace in the House. The whole nation, valley and all the people of the country are looking at us.
Home Minister Amit Shah in Lok Sabha:

Home Minister Amit Shah in Lok Sabha:
This bill and resolution will ensure that Jammu and Kashmir will remain with India forever.
Home Minister Amit Shah in Lok Sabha:
We can die for Jammu and Kashmir. Why shouldn't I get aggressive when they say PoK is not a part of J&K?
Home Minister Amit Shah in Lok Sabha:
Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. There cannot be any legal or constitutional dispute about this. J&K has also declared that it is an integral part of India. This Parliament is competent to make law on this issue.
Congress Leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury:
Home Minister (Amit Shah) needs to clarify whether Kashmir is still a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan. Jammu and Kashmir is an open prison today.
