There is an escalation in Pakistan-backed terror activity targeting the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, according to a report by NDTV.
Following Operation Sindoor, Pakistan-based terror groups particularly Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) are reportedly planning a new state of coordinated strikes.
The NDTV report stated that terror groups have stepped up infiltration, reconnaissance, and cross-border logistics since September. Multiple LeT and JeM units reportedly entered J&K through infiltration routes along the Line of Control (LoC).
Sources told NDTV that one LeT unit led by terrorist Shamsher conducted aerial reconnaissance using drones. The unit identified vulnerable LoC gaps indicating a possible fidayeen-style assault or weapon drops soon.
The NDTV report revealed that Pakistan's Border Action Teams (BATs) comprising former SSG soldiers and terrorists have been redeployed across Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). This marks one of the most concerted escalations after Operation Sindoor, suggesting Pakistan's renewed strategy to "export instability" into the Union Territory.
The report also stated that the high-level meetings in PoK during October 2025 were attended by senior members of Jamaat-e-Islami, Hizbul Mujahideen, and ISI officials. They finalised plans to revive dormant terror cells, issue monthly stipends to ex-commanders, and direct groups to avenge losses inflicted during Operation Sindoor.
LeT operatives have begun mapping local sympathisers and assets across Kashmir valley. Their human intelligence network had largely been dismantled after India's intensified counter-terror operations earlier this year.
These developments come amid a fragile calm in Jammu and Kashmir, where local elections and a gradual return of tourism have been hailed as signs of normalcy after the April 22 Pahalgam attack.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently took a swipe at the Congress, clubbing the party with Pakistan and saying the two have not yet recovered from ‘Operation Sindoor’.
Calling the Gandhis the “royal family” of the Congress, while campaigning for the Bihar assembly elections in Arrah, Modi said: “…When blasts were happening in Pakistan, the Congress ‘royal family’ lost their sleep. To date, both Pakistan and Congress namdaars haven’t recovered from Operation Sindoor.”
He said it was “Modi’s guarantee” that Article 370 would be scrapped, and it has been with the Constitution of India now in force in Jammu and Kashmir.
