The Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the Government of India has issued a fact check regarding a false letter circulated on social media purportedly written by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command.

Issuing the fact check on X (formerly known as Twitter), PIB wrote that the letter is being spread by social media accounts operating in Pakistani and their agenda is to spread false propaganda and misinformation.

It also advised Indians to avoid sharing such unverified information and to only rely on official sources from the Government of India for accurate information.

PIB wrote: "A fake letter purportedly addressed by Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh, to General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command is being shared on social media. It is being spread by Pakistani accounts as False Propaganda aimed at spreading misinformation. Avoid sharing unverified information and rely only on official sources from the Government of India for accurate information."
