Nita Ambani receives the 'Citizen of Mumbai' award by the Rotary Club of Bombay

The Cultural Centre, Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, founded and chaired by Nita Ambani aims to preserve and promote Indian arts. The vision behind it was to create a platform where communities from India and around the world could come together, showcase their talents, and learn about each other's cultures.

Continuing the saga of bringing global performances and artists onto the Indian stage, the centre is bringing the world-famous musical Mamma Mia! to India in November.

Written by British playwright Catherine Johnson, the musical is based on songs recorded by Swedish band ABBA. The title of the musical is taken from the group’s 1975 chart-topper ‘Mamma Mia’.

During September, the center showcased a number of notable performances. Among these was a special performance by Pandit Nayan Ghosh, an award-winning tabla master, and his ensemble. They delved into the rhythmic sounds of North India and Iran, highlighting the cultural differences between the two regions. Additionally, renowned Indian classical dancer Chitra Dalvi performed at the center, featuring choreography by her mentor Sandhya Purecha, a veteran exponent of Bharatanatyam.
