Hyderabad-based Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) has received Letter of Acceptance (LoA) for station construction work under the Bengaluru suburban rail project.
Sources told Moneycontrol that Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) Limited (K-RIDE), the special purpose vehicle (SPV) executing the project, on January 3 awarded NCC the contract for the construction of eight suburban rail stations at a cost of Rs 501 crore (including GST).
Sources said three firms, including NCC, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), and J Kumar Infra Projects Limited, participated in the tender

This section, Corridor 2A, is part of the Benniganahalli–Yeshwantpur–Chikkabanavara (Mallige) corridor.
NCC will construct eight stations located at Benniganahalli (elevated interchange), Kasturi Nagar (at-grade), Seva Nagar (at-grade), Banaswadi (at-grade), Nagawara (elevated), Kanaka Nagar (elevated), Hebbal (at-grade), and Mathikere (elevated). Corridor 2B consists of four stations: Yeswantpur, Shettyhalli, Mydarahalli, and Chikkabanavara.
The scope of work includes civil and structural works, entry and exit structures, steel foot overbridges (FOBs), roof structures, pre-engineered building (PEB) works, architectural finishes, plumbing, façades, electrical and mechanical (E&M) works, as well as detailed design and engineering (DDC) with all allied works.

Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna on September 9 said that two suburban rail corridors—Benniganahalli to Chikkabanavara (25 km) and Heelalige to Rajanukunte (46.8 km)—are slated to become operational by December 2026.
However, K-RIDE has yet to float tenders for the procurement of 306 train coaches (rolling stock) estimated at Rs 4,300 crore. While the Karnataka government has approved its 50% share of Rs 2,135 crore for the purchase, the remaining amount will be borne by the Union government. K-RIDE can proceed with tendering only after approval from the Union Railway Ministry, and it will take at least three years for manufacturers to deliver the coaches.
