The BJP is all set to form government for the third consecutive term in Haryana. The government formation is likely to take place on October 15.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is ikely to retain his position. Saini recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and the party awaited word from the leadership on the composition of the new state cabinet. Haryana can have 14 ministers, including the Chief Minister. The BJP must look for new faces because only Chief Minister Saini and ministers Mahipal Dhanda and Mool Chand Sharma have returned to the Vidhan Sabha.
“We are planning a grand victory ceremony on the occasion of the swearing-in ceremony. Panchkula’s Tau Devi Lal Stadium and Parade Ground Sector-5 are among the venue options,” a senior BJP leader told The Indian Express.
According to reports, the BJP had indicated during the elections that Saini, who replaced Manohar Lal Khattar as chief minister in March, will be its choice for the top post if it wins.
Born on January 25, 1970, in Mizapur Majra village in Ambala, Saini steadily rose through the ranks of the BJP. He started as a computer operator at the party’s state headquarters and was involved in organizational work by 1996. After completing his BA and LLB degrees, Saini became involved with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), where he met Manohar Lal Khattar.
The BJP secured a historic third term in Haryana, winning 48 seats and halting a Congress comeback in the state after a decade.
The Congress has won 37 seats, Independents won 3 and the INLD won 2 seats.
Who can be sworn in?
Among the leaders from the Dalit community who can get ministerial berths include senior leader Krishan Lal Panwar, who won from Israna seat and Krishan Kumar. Panwar, a Rajya Sabha member, had fought the assembly elections, accoridng to News18.
Former MLA Krishan Kumar, who won from Narwana, could also be the ministerial choice. In the Ahirwal belt in south Haryana, the party won ten of the eleven seats.
Most of the candidates in this belt are believed to be close to Union Minister and Gurgaon MP, Rao Inderjit Singh, according to News18.
