- Hours after the Enforcement Directorate carried out searches at multiple locations in the Delhi Excise policy money laundering case, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday said he has nothing to hide and did his job honestly.
- Sisodia and some bureaucrats have been named as accused in the alleged scam related to the Delhi excise policy, which has now been rolled back.
- If the ED officers come to my place, they will only find maps of some schools, Sisodia, who is also the education minister of Delhi, said.
- "I have nothing (to hide). I have done my job honestly. I have constructed schools and (if ED comes) they will get maps of a few more schools," Sisodia told reporters on the sidelines of an event. (PTI)

Lufthansa pilots plan 2-day strike from tomorrow over pay
- A union representing pilots at German carrier Lufthansa says they will stage a two-day strike starting Wednesday unless the company makes a serious offer in talks over pay increases.
- It would be the second strike in a week after
- The Vereinigung Cockpit union has called for a 5.5% raise for its members this year and an inflation-busting 8.2% increase in 2023.
- Pilots are also seeking a new pay and holiday structure.
- The airline says those measures would increase its staffing costs by about 40%, or around 900 million euros over two years.
- It has instead offered a one-off increase of 900 euros ($900), amounting to a 5% increase for senior pilots and an 18% increase for those starting the profession. (AP)
Sri Lanka's 22nd constitutional amendment gets clearance from Supreme Court
- Sri Lanka's Supreme Court has ruled that the bill seeking the 22nd amendment to the Constitution can be adopted with a two-thirds majority in Parliament and some clauses requiring a nationwide referendum, the Parliament Speaker announced on Tuesday.
- The draft bill on the 22nd amendment, aimed at empowering Parliament over the executive president, was approved by the country's Cabinet and gazetted last month.
- The 22nd amendment was originally named 21A and meant to replace the 20A.
- The amendment was formulated amid the ongoing economic turmoil in the country which also caused a political crisis.
- It is meant to replace the 20A that had given unfettered powers to ex-President Gotabaya Rajapaksa after abolishing the 19th Amendment.
- Speaker of Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene said the 22nd amendment to the Constitution can only be adopted with a two-thirds majority in Parliament and a nationwide referendum on clauses 2 and 3 of the bill that are inconsistent with the Constitution. (PTI)

Sri Lanka opposition asks govt to table IMF deal in Parliament
- Sri Lanka's main opposition on Tuesday asked the government to table the agreement reached with the International Monetary Fund in Parliament if they need its support for IMF-recommended economic reforms.
- On September 1, the IMF reached a staff-level agreement to support Sri Lanka's economic policies with a 48-month arrangement under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) of about USD 2.9 billion.
- Sri Lanka is going through its worst economic crisis since its independence in 1948 which was triggered by a severe paucity of foreign exchange reserves.
- Opposition and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) leader Sajith Premadasa told Parliament on Tuesday that, given that Parliament has authority on public finance, the recently announced staff-level agreement with the IMF be tabled in Parliament, Economy Next reported. (PTI)
