Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who also holds the Finance portfolio, presented the state Budget on February 16 and
allocated Rs 100 crore for Waqf properties, Rs 200 crore for Christian community. Regarding Waqf properties, there will be a special focus on protection and conservation of protected monuments, which are maintained by the ASI.
The Congress government also earmarked Rs 10 crore for the construction of Mangaluru Haj Bhavan and announced that 100 Maulana Azad schools will be opened in the state.
Rs 50 crore will be allocated for the development of major pilgrimage destinations of Jains, announced Siddaramaiah.
The CM added that Tripitakas, the sacred texts of the Buddhist community, will be translated into Kannada, and necessary grants will be allocated for the same.
Rs 2 crore will be provided for the formulation of targeted schemes aimed at financial empowerment of Sikligar Community. Also, Shri Nanak Jhira Saheb Gurudwara in Bidar will be given a development grant of Rs 1 crore.
At a cost of Rs 393 crore, programs will be formulated and implemented during 2024-25 through Minorities Development Corporations, said Siddaramaiah.
Siddaramaiah also said on Friday: "Tourism policy will be revised for 2024-29 to attract more tourists and investors to make full use of the tourism potential of the State. Anjanadri Hills and surrounding areas of Koppal district hold mythological and historical importance, Rs 100 crore will be provided to develop tourism in these areas."
