US Senator Josh Hawley recently made a sensational claim that former President Joe Biden, during his presidency, would sometimes "get lost in his own closet" inside the White House. Speaking to Fox News, Senator Josh Hawley claimed that the account came from an unnamed Secret Service agent who was personally assigned to Biden.
The startling allegation by Hawley added fuel to ongoing congressional investigations into Biden's mental fitness and the extent to which he personally exercised executive authority while in office. Biden's closest aides have dismissed those concerns, saying Biden was fully capable of making important decisions.
"He [a Secret Service member] told me that Biden used to get lost in his closet in the mornings in the White House. I mean, the guy literally stumbling around in the White House residence couldn't find his way out of his own closet. The President of the United States. I mean, this is outrageous. We were lied to," the Republican Senator said.
Leading one of the central probes is House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, who is examining whether the then-US President's staff may have used an autopen to authorise official directives, including presidential pardons, without Biden’s direct involvement.
Comer has also raised concerns over the role of Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the White House physician during Biden’s presidency. He has questioned whether O’Connor’s public reports following Biden’s routine check-ups were fully transparent or withheld critical details about the former President’s condition.
Earlier this month, 82-year-old Biden disclosed he is battling an aggressive form of prostate cancer — a revelation that has sparked fresh speculation about whether the illness went undiagnosed or unreported while he held office.
