Jharkhand Election 2024: Complete list of candidates announced till now by BJP and Congress

The last date for filing nominations for Phase 1 is on October 25 and for phase 2, the nominations can be filed till October 29.

Assembly elections in Jharkhand are set to take place in two phases on November 13 and November 20, with the results expected to be announced on November 23.

The Congress, on Monday, released its first list of 21 candidates for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, featuring prominent figures such as state Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon, senior leader Ajoy Kumar, and Health Minister Banna Gupta.

The candidates confirmed by the Congress Central Election Committee for the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly elections include:


  1. Jamtara – Irfan Ansari

  2. Mahagama – Deepika Pandey Singh

  3. Barkagaon – Amba Prasad Sahu

  4. Ramgarh – Mamta Devi

  5. Mandu – Jai Prakash Patel

  6. Hazaribagh – Munna Singh

  7. Bermo – Kumar Jai Mangal

  8. Jharia – Purnima Niraj Singh

  9. Baghmara – Jaleshwaro Mehato

  10. Jamshedpur East – Ajoy Kumar

  11. Jamshedpur West – Banna Gupta

  12. Jagannathpur (ST) – Sona Ram Sinku

  13. Khijri (ST) – Rajesh Kachhap

  14. Hatia – Ajay Nath Sahdeo

  15. Mandar (ST) – Shilpi Neha Tirkey

    Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) executive president and Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced that the Congress and JMM will jointly contest 70 out of the 81 seats, with 11 seats allocated for the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Left parties. The Congress party is expected to contest 29 seats, which is two fewer than in the last election. However, official confirmation is pending due to ongoing negotiations between the JMM and RJD.


Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also released its list of 66 candidates. State BJP President Babulal Marandi will contest from Dhanwar, with notable candidates including Lobin Hembrom from Borio and Sita Soren from Jamtara. Former Chief Minister Champai Soren will run from Saraikella, Geeta Balmuchu from Chaibasa, Geeta Koda from Jagannathpur, and Meera Munda, wife of Union Minister Arjun Munda, will contest from Potka.
