India's democratic principles are rooted in its Constitution, says President Droupadi Murmu

To mark the occasion, the government has planned for year-long celebrations.

Kicking off the celebrations marking 75 years of the adoption of India’s Constitution, President Droupadi Murmu, said the country's democratic principles are entrenched in our Constitution and has played a major role in the advancement of the nation.

The President reminded various organs of government to work for the welfare of common citizens. She also urged the judiciary to ensure that principles of justice laid out in the constitution are adhered to.

This year marks 75 years since the adoption of the Constitution, and the Centre will commemorate the occasion with year-long activities under the campaign ‘Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhiman’

In his address, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that the Indian Constitution is an instrument of social, political and economic change.
