Indian Railways has been entered into the prestigious Limca Book of Records for hosting the most people at a public service event across multiple venues, the government announced on June 15.

On February 26, 2024, the Ministry of Railways organized an event attended by 40,19,516 people at 2,140 locations. The event marked the inauguration of road overpasses and underpasses, as well as the laying of foundation stones for new railway stations by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"The monumental effort and mobilization by Indian Railways have been recognized, earning a place in the Limca Book of Records," the release stated.

Ashwini Vaishnaw on June 10 retained the post of the 39th Minister of Railways as part of the new Council of Ministers in Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Cabinet.
