India welcomes progress made at Alaska Summit, calls for dialogue to end Ukraine conflict

New Delhi emphasised that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only path forward. It also reiterated that the international community is eager to see an early resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.

India on Saturday welcomed the Alaska summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling their commitment to advancing peace a commendable step.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "India welcomes the Summit meeting in Alaska between US President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin of Russia. Their leadership in the pursuit of peace is highly commendable. India appreciates the progress made in the Summit. The way forward can only be through dialogue and diplomacy. The world wants to see an early end to the conflict in Ukraine."

Acknowledging the outcomes of the meeting, New Delhi emphasised that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only path forward. It also reiterated that the international community is eager to see an early resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.

Meanwhile,  US President Donald Trump remained upbeat about meeting Putin in a post on his Truth Social platform. "A great and very successful day in Alaska!," he proclaimed, adding that European leaders backed his plan for a three-way meeting with Putin and Zelensky.
