India and China on Wednesday held "active and in-depth" talks with India on managing tensions along the western sector of the Line of Actual Border (LAC).
According to a statement from the Chinese Ministry of Defence, the discussions were “active and in-depth," with both sides exchanging views on maintaining stability in the border region, Reuters reported.
The Chinese ministry said that the talks were guided by the “important consensus" reached by the leaders of the two countries and that both sides agreed to continue communication and dialogue through military and diplomatic channels.
The two nations agreed to jointly maintain peace and tranquility along the border areas.
This comes after the two nations held discussions on the border situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh, which China described as “candid”, earlier in July.
Amid a visible thaw in ties, India and China also resumed direct flights on Sunday after a hiatus of over four years. Direct flights were operational between the two countries till early 2020 before being suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The services remained suspended in view of the eastern Ladakh border row.
