The simmering weather is here to stay in the eastern part of India, for at least next five days, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast.

Heatwave conditions are likely to prevail over parts of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh and Odisha between April 22 and April 26, said the Met Office, sending out alerts that some parts of Gangetic West Bengal will experience severe heatwave conditions.

Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar too will feel the heat for the next five days, while heat conditions will reign over Jharkhand during April 25-26, the IMD said. There are forecasts of temperatures soaring beyond 40 degrees Celsious in Odisha and West Bengal on April 22.
