India’s May 7 precision strikes in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) have put the spotlight on the country's long-range strike capabilities, as Indian armed forces used key weapons systems to destroy terror infrastructure across nine targeted sites.
Indian armed forces targeted the training facilities used by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and said that the mission was "focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature."
Indian armed forces carried out the strikes using long-range precision weapons like SCALP cruise missiles, HAMMER precision-guided bombs, and Harpy drones.

SCALP missile: According to its manufacturer, MBDA, the SCALP missile is an air-launched, long-range precision strike weapon designed to target high-value fixed or stationary assets, including fortified bunkers and critical infrastructure.
Operable day and night in all weathers, the weapon offers a high-precision mission-planned deep strike capability. SCALP’s advanced navigation system combines INS, GPS, and terrain referencing. After launch, the weapon descends to a terrain-hugs altitude to avoid detection. On approaching the target, its onboard infrared seeker matches the target image with the stored picture to ensure a precision strike and minimal collateral damage.
Harpy Drones: The Harpy drones, designed to attack radar systems, were used by the Indian armed forces to target enemy air defence systems in Pakistan. As a loitering munition system dedicated to the suppression and destruction of enemy air defenses (SEAD/DEAD), HARPY provides a strategic tool for armed forces planning a strike against anti-access/area denial (A2AD) defensive systems, accroding to its manufacturer, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).
HAMMER: Developed by France’s Safran Electronics & Defense, HAMMER (Highly Agile Modular Munition Extended Range), or Armement Air-Sol Modulable (AASM), is a precision-guided bomb. It combines conventional bombs with GPS, INS and infrared/semi-active laser guidance kits.
S-400: Indian Air Force S-400 Sudarshan Chakra air defence missile systems were fired last night against targets moving towards India. The targets were successfully neutralised in the operation, multiple domain experts told ANI. An official Government confirmation is awaited. They are distinguished by good characteristics, versatility and the ability to intercept various types of air targets.
